Eerste berichten over ‘The Northman’ met Alexander Skarsgård in de hoofdrol zijn enorm positief
Het verhaal van The Northman draait om de jonge Vikingprins ‘Amleth’, gespeeld door Alexander Skarsgård. Hij gaat op een missie om de moord op zijn vader te wreken. Naast hem schitteren in de cast van deze film onder andere Nicole Kidman, Claes Bang, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ethan Hawke, Björk en Willem Dafoe.
Op het moment van schrijven geldt er nog een embargo op recensies, wat betekent dat de Rotten Tomatoes-pagina over de film nog helemaal leeg is en dat er nog geen officiële reviews online zijn verschenen. Wel worden door critici via social media al een paar eerste reacties gedeeld, die door het officiële filmaccount van The Northman maar al te graag werden verspreid.
De kenners zijn lovend over de acteerprestaties van Skarsgård, waarbij herhaaldelijk wordt gezegd dat hij in een beest verandert in zijn weerzinwekkende rol. Waar en wanneer zal deze vikingfilm online te zien zijn in Nederland?
Op het moment van schrijven is nog niet bekend wanneer The Northman waar online te zien zal zijn, maar we kunnen al wel voorzichtig een verwachting uitspreken. Het productiehuis Focus Features heeft deze film namelijk op haar naam staan en dit bedrijf maakt onderdeel uit van Universal Pictures. Op zijn beurt is dit weer in beheer van NBCUniversal, wat valt onder het eigendom van het grote mediabedrijf Comcast Corporation.
Samen met Paramount Global zal Comcast nog dit jaar een eigen nieuwe streamingdienst lanceren in Nederland: SkyShowtime. De prijs is nog onbekend, maar we weten wel dat er heel veel films en series naar de streamingdienst zullen komen. Aan het aanbod zal onder andere content worden toegevoegd van Universal Pictures, DreamWorks, Sky Studios, Peacock, Paramount+, Showtime, Paramount Pictures en Nickelodeon. Een flinke nieuwe speler dus in het streaminglandschap, waarbij naar verwachting onder andere The Northman onderdeel van het filmaanbod uit zal maken.
Mocht het nog even duren voordat de streamingdienst online komt, dan is de verwachting dat TVOD-diensten als Pathé Thuis als eerste de online uitzendrechten in handen zullen krijgen. Net als de bovenstaande verwachting van SkyShowtime is dit echter nog niet officieel bevestigd.
